Film Foward Visits Mississippi this Weekend
This weekend, Film Forward is coming to Jackson and Cleveland, Mississippi. The films Valentine Road and The World Before Her will be featured, directed by Marta Cunningham and Nisha Pahuja, respectively.
Poignant and culturally relevant, both films touch on important topics. Valentine Road explores the entangled, short lives of both a young teen and his classmate and killer. The World Before Her explores two very different lives for young Indian women; one is a month long "boot camp" for the Miss India beauty pageant, the other a militant fundamentalist camp that trains girls how to be "good Hindu women."
A variety of other films will also be shown.
Film fans in the area, be sure to take advantage of this great opportunity! Discussions and panels will follow the two featured films, allowing the audience to hear from the filmmakers themselves.
